Mindfulness based Breathwork Therapytm - the new name for the clinical model of Breathwork developed in Australia by Lloyd Lalande
Training dates in London 27-28 July and Cambridge University (Selwyn College) 5 – 10 August, 2013
Professional development for Breathwork Practitioners
The Mindfulness based Breathwork Therapytm approach was first presented to the Australian Breathwork Association Annual Conference as Integrative Breathwork Therapy in 2010 and again in 2011. In the same year it was presented to the international psychotherapy community with the publication of the research article ‘Breathwork: An Additional Treatment Option for Depression and Anxiety?’ in the peer reviewed Journal of Contemporary Psychotherapy (copy of paper available here).
The name Integrative Breathwork Therapy had been used by Lloyd Lalande during the development of the approach both through clinical practice and research and emphasised the ability to cause rapid integration of mind-body experience. In 2012, as an acknowledgement of Lloyd’s on-going research and the central role that mindfulness plays in this unique approach the name was changed to Mindfulness based Breathwork Therapytm.

Our Next Step in Global Breathwork Support and Growth
We are announcing the next step of our evolution to support the expansion and advancement of breathwork as an accessible and vital healing and growth modality in the world.
Events such as the International Breathwork Tele-summit (Jan 29-Feb 1, 2012), sponsored in part by the IBTA, and the creation of an upcoming in-person Breathwork Summit at Omega Institute, demonstrate that collaboration among schools and practitioners can be done professionally on a large scale for the benefit of all parties, including the public.
As you know, the Board of the IBTA, which for the last 12 years has promoted training standards for and the ethical practice of dyadic and group breathwork, has been committed to supporting and promoting the integration of breathwork in the world as a vital, ethical, evidence based professional healing modality that facilitates physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual wellness. This will not change.
