Samhain - Nurturing tomorrowSamhain, pronounced sow-ein, is a time of magic, a time when the doors to the unseen world of Spirit are less substantial than usual, so, providing us with easier access, at least for those of willing to make the journey.

It was at this time of the year that the ancient Celts would celebrate the end and the beginning of their new year. It is the time of the hag or the crone aspect of the Triple Goddess.

Heralding the darker days of Winter and the grounding of the Sun's energy until the Mid-Winter Solstice. It is a time when seeds are nurtured in the soil, close to the heart of Ceres. So it is for us, a good time to find warmer places close to the Earth, closer to our Earth Mother, Ceres. These are places of caves, barrows, dolmens and the like.

Light and warmth start to diminish from the Earth at this time, it is the season of death and decay, a season of transformation and new beginnings as the old gives way in preparedness for the birth of the new.

Samhain provides us with a time to reflect on the dreams, successes and failures of the past year and the actions we undertook during that time. We are being given the time to look profoundly at our unconscious reactions in our life through a deeper connection with our inner Spirit.

Just as seeds need to be immersed in darkness for a period of time in order for them to germinate and arise new and fresh into the world, so are we being offered, during this period of the year, the opportunity to undertake a similar journey into our spirit self, the place where all our dreams are germinated.

This quarter day offers us the opportunity to begin nurturing, forming and creating our dreams for the future, to start nurturing the seed of our tomorrow's potential.

We are being asked to reflect on and honour the journey we have made during the past twelve months and in so doing, release the old dreams whose patterns ,now, no longer serve us or our fellow travellers. It is a time to feel the essential nature of the changes we have made and to start reaching towards the changes we wish to make. This is a journey of right relationship, a journey that is inward in nature, but, has ultimately far reaching outer consequences. As we move ever closer to understanding and living in right relationship with ourselves, we, inevitably, manifest the effects of this in the World around us.

Samhain, is a time for deep inner journeys, deep meditations. A time to release the yoke of our self imposed limitations and to listen more attentively, more profoundly to our deeper intuitive natures and so start to understand our futures.
