BreathWork

The 2009 Global Inspiration Conference 6th - 13th of July, MexicoDear Friend of the Breath,

This year the International Breathwork Foundation (IBF) is having its annual Global Inspiration Conference in Mexico from the 6th to the 13th of July.

The Global Inspiration Conference (GIC) is a very special event, where conscious breathers and breathworkers from around the world meet for one week to share, learn and grow together. It is a wonderful opportunity for personal and professional growth, as well as for making friends and valuable connections.

There has been concerns lately regarding health risks related to travelling to Mexico because of the swine flue. I am delighted to announce today that both the US Department of State and the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office have lifted their recommendation to avoid all nonessential travel to Mexico (see http://travel.state.gov/ travel/cis_pa_tw/pa/pa_3028. html  and

Dan, Dan, always the breathing man!

A bright golden moon is already rising over the Sea of Cortez and soon it will be coming into full view over the small mountain that sits between the farm and the east coast of the Baja Peninsula. The stars are on notice that they will have serious competition tonight. Some of them are already being out-shined, and others are quickly fading from sight.

A fox just walked through the orchard. She stopped and stared at me and the glow of my laptop screen for a long moment. She must be on her way home to feed her little ones: there was a mole and something else hanging limp from her jaws.

It is late night. I am up in the hopes of confronting some wild pigs that have visited us two nights in a row. I think they've set their sights (and noses) on the watermelons and cantaloupes popping up in the new gardens. Last year, while I was away, they ate up the entire crop of melons in one night. (No wonder they are called pigs!) Yesterday we started covering some of the tomatoes with screen netting, to make them less inviting to all the birds that seem to think that we planted them just for their delight!

Aum shantiToday many people are seeking more fulfillment in life. Today's chaotic technological world is often too much for human psyches to contend with, without possessing more inner strength. Many therefore are yearning to go internal, to find an inner peace, seeking more spiritual meaning and connection; to align more with their true purpose in life.

Aaron Hoopes The body can go for days, even weeks without food. It fails after two or three days without water. But it is virtually impossible to go without breathing for more than a few minutes. Without fresh oxygen to the brain the bodily systems quickly shut down and we die. Breathing is natural, and automatic, something we rarely take the time to notice, unless we are winded from a burst of exercise or emotional stimulation.

Martin JonesWe are continuously evolving and changing. In this talk the reality of this statement is unravelled in relationship to the breath, spirit, breast feeding and birth.

I recorded this in the middle of the night, so it may be a bit slow for the first few minutes.

Dan BruleWelcome to the January 2009 Breath and Breathing Report.

So much life has filled the time since my last report! The Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year holidays came and went. But the flow of love and peace and joy is continuous; and it seems to grow as we do!

The Importance of Breath. To breathe is to live. How we breathe has a most profound influence on the quality of our life. Breathing correctly is the key to living fully. Most Westerners suffer from chronic improper breathing habits that are not immediately obvious. We breathe about 7 million breaths a year and the long-term effects of poor breathing are cumulative. They reduce not only the quality of vitality in our daily experience, but can lead to a weakening of our entire system and serious health issues.

altHow are you doing? Have you truly checked in lately? Or, have you been dashing full speed ahead, feeling little frantic trying to finish all your holiday and end-of-the-year lists? Well, unfortunately, I'd say I've been a bit of a frantic dasher lately (at least in my mind).

I love the holiday season, it has been truly merry, but I'm starting to feel some side effects: A little headache here and there, a craving for chocolate (everyday - which means I really need rest/balance, not more holiday desserts), and a very messy desk with duplicate to-do/to-buy lists!
