Right in front of our nose by Michael Brown GIC2010 keynote speakerHow often have we had the experience of looking for something – of literally turning our world upside down to find it – only to discover that what we are looking for is right in front of our nose?

Right now we humans are going through a very challenging experience. We are now having to face up to the reality that no one else is responsible for the quality of our personal experience. We have lived for countless generations believing that if we vote for the right politician, if we go to the right priest, if we find the right doctor, and if we buy the right stuff, the quality of our life will be spoken for. Yet many of us are fast discovering these outer promises hold no permanent solutions – nothing ‘out there’ appears to assist bringing resolution to how we are feeling ‘in here’.

Breath and Breathing News by Dan BruleHello Everyone,

We are into the dry season here in the Baja. With so many thirsty banana and papaya plants, so many mango, avocado, plum and citrus trees producing fruit, and so many green leafy veggies growing, we are fortunate to have the dam and the aqueduct system to supply us with irrigation water from the Sierra Laguna Mountains here in El Chorro. Andrew, Trino, Kevin, and others have done a great job of improving our water use and water harvesting capabilities. And the well? Well, the well digging is well underway!

Marcus MasonThe Equinox Sun conjuncts Uranus and Mercury, all in opposition to retrograde Saturn, and forming a T-square with Ceres (and Pluto); this tells us that we have a clear choice – we can continue playing old ego games and end up struggling against the odds, or we can embrace the spiritual and physical gifts brought by Ceres and do what truly nourishes us at the deepest levels. Ceres is on the cusp between Sagittarius and Capricorn, which is a pivotal place from where we can manifest our deepest ideals into the “real” world. When we do this, we will feel nourished by Ceres and empowered by Pluto. But, if we stay caught in the ego’s old ideas of how things should be, then Pluto is likely to manifest as a disruptive force from our unconscious, which will not be at all nourishing. Uranus conjunct the Sun means that we can “switch” our allegiance from the ego to our spiritual self in the “twinkling of an eye” – it does not have to be a long drawn-out process.

What disturbance? by Charlie BadenhopIt was six o'clock in the evening and the train platform was crowded.

I'd been to the convenience store in the station, having bought two sandwiches and a packet of juice for myself, and a small box of chocolate covered almonds for my daughter, who was waiting for me at home.

February 2010 Breath and Breathing Report by Dan BruleHello Everyone,

For the past two months, I have been playing in the gardens, working on the land, digging in the well, sitting under the stars, enjoying the sun, hiking in the mountains, soaking in the hot springs and cool streams and pools, swimming in the ocean, and generally enjoying Cabo! People have been coming and going. Lots of forward movement has taken place at Baja Bio Sana, as our project develops. And time has a way of slipping by unnoticed when you are in paradise!

Varieties of Breathwork: Choosing what is right for you by Jim Morningstar, Ph.D.     In this article you will see the great variety and tradition behind the healing and transformative powers of conscious breathing. You will also begin to explore what techniques might be beneficial for your personal health and well- being.

Breathing is a unique process in our body. It is both under the control of the autonomic nervous system, taking place automatically whether we are aware of it or not. And it is under our conscious control, we are able to alter it with our conscious will.

The streets of Sofia by Paulo CoelhoAfter spending five special days in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, for the first time I board a plane of the Bulgarian Air company, which will carry me to my next destination on this journey without (many) plans that I am making in tribute to the 20 years since my pilgrimage on the Way to Santiago.

Since it is forbidden to turn on your computer before and during take-off, I take a look at the airline magazine. Like all other airline company magazine, I know that it will describe the marvels of the country, which I am not very interested in because my visit has been wonderful, so nobody has to tell me again how marvelous the place is.

The three hearts of a Japanese manWell it's Friday night and I'm pretty certain my friend Tabata-san will be hanging out at the usual place. So I decide to go have a talk and perhaps a beer as well.

Sure enough, I find him sitting with a couple of young men telling them what Judo used to be like in the old days.

I wait patiently for an opening in the conversation, as I want to ask Tabata-san to talk more about a previous topic. His experience of being a Japanese man.
